Criminology is the scientific study of crime, criminals, criminal behavior, and corrections. In the seventeenth century, Criminology came into instauration with the initial purpose of studying criminals and their behaviors. As times realise changed, so have the community. As people began to change, so did the field of honor of Criminology. In the beginning of the 19th century, positivism began to influence umteen fields of study. Positivism is the application of the scientific method to tender liveliness. It even changed the way in which criminologists studied crimes and criminals. In the 17th century, criminologists looked and penal reforms and legal codes. With the effect of positivism, the 19th century criminologists looked into the discovering the biological, psychological, or social determinants of criminal behavior.

Modern criminology began with Ces ar Lombroso, who believed that those who suffered from atavism were doomed to the life of a criminal. With the application of biology, he determined that some people are born criminals.



He did so with the idea that intimately people evolved but the violent criminal actually devolves.
