The current trend of the diagnosing of ADHD in school aged children is rising and irrefutable in my internship placement. The nevertheless I get into my field placement this year, the more children I see who ar labeled with ADHD. This was an area of interest for me level(p) before I entered the school system, and now that I am witnessing the abundance of diagnosis first hand, I find myself with more questions and concerns. Unfortunately, a pattern I require watch over to bank note is the brash manner in which these New Haven universal school children are being tested for and categorized as having attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. Whether the scholarly person is formally tested and assessed or not, if it is a super C assumption among school staff that the student has ADHD, then they are pushed into that mold and treated from that point onward as though it is true. Environmental influences on the child’s behavior are rarely understandn into consideration.
If a teacher is having difficulties with a student in the classroom, the idea of ADHD may be suggested and it becomes the resultant role to why none of the teacher’s efforts with the child have worked. The teacher begins to believe it must be true, creating connections between the child’s behavior and typical ADHD symptoms, next the reboot is convinced and the cycle continues. I have witnessed this process a few times in the short weeks I have been working within the school system. Seldom does anyone stop and take other factors or possibilities into consideration; it has been too easy to prefigure it ADD or ADHD.
