Protists: A Primer
1. Introduction
Protists atomic number 18 an extremely large, widely diverse kingdom of organisms which includes what have traditionally been called protozoa, algae, and disgrace fungi. In general, Protists have characteristics of animals, or plants, or both. Protists are eukaryotic, in that the cell contains a nucleus, surrounded by an outer membrane. Additionally, close to protists are unicellular, with the nonable exception of algae (Protists).
A volume of protists can move. This is conducted via flagella, cilia, or pseudopods (foot-like extensions). Initially this kingdom was created to provide a place for simple organisms that blurred the boundaries between plant and animal, and was setoff named by the noted biologist Ernst Haekel (Protists). However, today, as there are increasing numbers of advancements in genetic and imaging techniques, anterior relationships are being subjected to increased scrutiny. As a result, umteen scientists believe that some groups within the Protists kingdom are slight closely related to one another than once believed (protist). Therefore the term Protists is still in use, but is not considered entirely ideal.

General Structure & Organization and Fossil Records
In general, protists include all unicellular organisms not included with the prokaryotes (protists). They in like manner include several forms of multi-cellular structure, which is generally seen in the form of filaments, colonies, coenobia (a settlement with a fixed number of interconnected cells within a common matrix) or leaf-like structures. Additionally, there are no vascular protists in existence. Many protists are microscopic, with the one notable macroscopic variety being brown algae. The protists exhibit both phototrophic (obtaining nil from sunlight to synthesize its own nutrition) and heterotrophic (needing organic compounds for nourishment) types....If you pauperization to get a full essay, order it on our website: Orderessay
