Essay - Abduction Abduction The short story Abduction deals with the matter of guilt and contest and I will now try to find verboten what it says about this subject. The story is about the relationship between tierce siblings: The main character Ann, her younger brother and her aged sibling, whose sexual practice we dont know. Ann is described as very self-assured, proud, focussed on education and a domineering control-freak. Her younger brother is, however, preferably the opposite. He has no education and he is the family baby who is provided for in every possible way. The older sibling is the narrator, but he/she is whole described through how he/she presents the story. The precedent for wherefore the narrator is Anns older sibling argon these sentences from the schoolbook: Hed been born late in our parents marriage... (l. 35) and Being only a few years older... (l. 18). This tells us that he/she is a sister or brother of Anns and that he/she is older than she is. However, thither are also passages in the text which question that. For practice session when he/she says Ann, his sister (l. 38) and their parents (l. 56) instead of saying our sister and our parents. That seems as if he/she talked about another family. The narrators distance to the family indicates the complications of the relationship between the siblings. These complications are confirmed in the fact that we follow the older sibling thoughts of killing his/her sister in the beginning of the story. If we shall find out at the narrators reliability, we have to consider that he/she is subjective in his/her descriptions. In the six ending lines where he/she tells us what his/her younger brother thought about nevertheless before he died. How could he/she know that? There are also no clear indications in the text that Ann rattling killed her brother. It seems that the older sibling hates Anns dominating behaviour and envies her achievements and her fortune and for that reason blames her....
